Thomas “Tommy” Garland Pennington

Thomas “Tommy” Garland Pennington, 84, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Regent Care Center in League City following a brief illness.

Tommy was born June 1, 1939, in Pioneer, Louisiana to Dollye and Walter Pennington.  He attended elementary school in Epps, Louisiana and then moved to Texas City, Texas, where he graduated and went on to be a long-time resident.  In high school, he met the love of his life, Rose Melanie Pennington, whom he was married to for 65 years. Tommy and Melanie relocated to New Ulm, Texas in 2010 to spend their retirement years surrounded by nature, wildlife and their adored cats, Pearlie and Lovie.

He worked for Don Tarpey Construction where he spent many years mentoring others and making life-long friends he considered family.

Tommy lived life to the fullest; he was a loving husband, a wonderful uncle and a great friend who will be missed.

Tommy was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend Melanie; his parents; two brothers, Doug and Mike; and nephew Ricky Pennington.

He is survived by his sister, Betty Hall, sister-in-law, Susan Campbell; nieces Cindy Bowles (Duane), Patti Thomasen (Chris), Michelle Darden, Dede Jones, Delena Bryant, Pam Longoria (Hector), Mimi Lucas (Sam) and Catherine Cox; nephews Doug Pennington (Norma), Shane Pennington, Keith Campbell (Angela) and Kenneth Campbell (Trezlyn); as well as numerous dear family members and close friends.

Tommy’s wish was to have a small Graveside Service at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas to be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 with Deacon Steve Mistretta officiating.
