Sheila Aline McKee

We’re deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Sheila Aline McKee, who left us peacefully at the age of 87 on September 26, 2026, in Santa Fe, Texas.

Sheila entered this world on November 1, 1938, in Beaumont, Texas, a beloved daughter to her parents, Preston Robert Meyers, Sr. and Vivian Babineaux Meyers.

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Sheila can attest to her wonderfully caring, kind, and genuinely beautiful spirit. She possessed an incredible gift for making everyone feel instantly comfortable and valued; it truly felt like Sheila never met a stranger. Her warm, unforgettable smile had a way of brightening any room and making each person she encountered feel incredibly special. She leaves behind a profound legacy of love and connection that will forever resonate with her extensive network of family and friends. Sheila dedicated many years of her professional life to administration, where her bright presence was surely felt.

Sheila is now reunited with several cherished family members who preceded her in death: her beloved parents, Preston Sr. and Vivian; her dear sister, Sandra Danna; her cherished son, Michael McKee; and her adored grandson, Cody Solomon.

Her memory will be lovingly treasured by her devoted daughters: Erin McKee (and her husband Wayne Bacot), Lori Flood, and Shea Kelly (and her husband Rick). She is also survived by her loving sons: Patrick McKee (and his wife Deanne) and Timothy McKee (and his wife Carol). Her brother, Preston Meyers, Jr. (and his wife Iva), also holds her memory dear.

Sheila was also the proud and doting grandmother to a truly vast and adored group of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched beyond measure. Those who carry on her light include: Hunter McKee, Daniel & Quejet McKee, Katie Holmes and Scott Holmes, Colton & Lindy McKee, Whitney and Lukas Mazac, Courtney & Nathan Moore, Ashley McKee, Kirsti Matula & TJ Matula, Shelby Crawford, Kawika Dayton, Cameron & Amanda Crawford, Alyssa Solomon, Logan and Brent Ellison, Aubrie and Kody Martinez, Austin and Izzy McKee, Hudson, William, and Mason Graff, Ashton White, Madison and Avery Matula, Cayden Solomon, Aiden Green, Autumn Dunlap, Cambrie, Lillian, Austyn, and Vallie Martinez, Brixley Ellison, Layla McKee, Charlotte Mazac, Meleya Dayton, and Koda, Kai and Callie Crawford.

  1. I’ve had the honor of knowing Miss Shiela for the last eight months and spending pretty intimate time with her happy times sad times, but most of all her smile always made me feel warm and loving inside. I couldn’t wait to sit and talk with her. Thank you, Miss Shiela for making me smile for the last eight months you will be dearly dearly missed as you already are.

  2. To my nearest and dearest sweet cousin Sheila and her precious family.
I want to say how much I was happy when you came to Coteau at Mamaw and Paw’s home for the summer. Living in the country I did not have a slew of friends. I had both grandparents and many aunts and uncles on the Babineaux and Seguras which was wonderful however. In later years in high school I was able to go to Texas and spend time with you and Sandra in the summer, Uncle Bobby and Aunt Vivian were so gracious to me. How exciting it was to be there with you.
I miss your sweetness and much more than that, , your companionship.
You are the sister I never had. My prayers are for you all always.

  5. I was so blessed to be the manager at Bayshore Towers when Sheila lived there. She was a true pleasure to be around and was so kind and peaceful. She got along with everyone and always had kind things to share with all the residents and staff. We are not to have favorites but she was lovely. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this challenging time. She is in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
