Ryan (Shorty) Michael Kelley

Ryan (Shorty) Michael Kelley, 44 years old, passed away on August 15 2022, in Texas City, Texas. He was born on January 15, 1978, in Galveston, Texas to Carolyn and Brian Kelley.

Ryan is survived by his: mother Carolyn Askew and stepfather Bill Askew; sister April Potter and brother-in-law Mark Potter; aunt, Teresa Miles; step-sister, Dandy Summer; step-brothers, Kyle Hathaway and Dez Askew; nieces and nephews, Atasia Deloney, Zackary Smith, Maci Miller, Maxwell Miller, Ava Potter, Reilli Russell, Genesis Russell, Sarah Hathaway, Kevin Hathaway, Bryan Hathaway and numerous family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Brian Kelley; grandpa, PawPaw; grandmother, MawMaw and MawMaw Pat; uncles, Mark and Donnie.

Ryan earned an AA degree in IT from ITT Tech. One of his many jobs was driving 18-wheel trucks.

Visitation will be at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial at 2:00 pm on Saturday August 27, 2022, at the Crowder Funeral Home 111 East Medical Center Blvd, Webster Texas. A reception will follow at “Up the Street Club” 17400 El Camino Real, Suite 800 Webster, TX 77058

Ryan was a Joker always making people laugh. He lived his own life and did not care what people thought about how he lived. He was happy being himself.  Ryan loved his family.

Ryan was active in recovery and had 13 years of clean time.  He felt the people in the Clear Lake Group of NA were all very much part of his family and loved them dearly.

  6. Carolyn, we moved away when I was ten. I only knew Ryan a little from when we came to visit a couple of times, and once in Texas City. I remember him being happy and fun. And self confident. I liked Ryan. I am sorry he has passed. I admire the resilience you have shown in the attitude that my mom(Kathy) told me you have with this. Thank you Carolyn for raising such a sweet, loving man. I know life threw him many curves, but you taught him very well how to overcome all obstacles.
