Roy Bert “Butch” Robinson

Roy Bert “Butch” Robinson, 79, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2024, in San Leon, Texas. He was born on January 22, 1945, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to parents Lois Blaine Robinson and Wilbur Bert Robinson.

Roy met his future wife, Kathy, when they were in the 6th grade. He immediately fell in love with her, and their long courtship began. When he was 17 and Kathy was 15, he proposed to her. Roy and Kathy married on August 15, 1969 in Oklahoma after her college graduation.

He was “Uncle Butch” to his niece and nephews. He told us that his Dad called home from the war and asked Grandma Lois to call him Butchand not Bert.

Roy was a graduate of Harding High School in Oklahoma City. Roy and Kathy, founders and managers of West End Marine, Inc. in Bacliff, Tx. Roy and Kathy also built Casper’s Billard’s at 137 21st street in San Leon, Tx as a retirement pursuit but later sold it.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen “Kathy” Lorraine Pollard Robinson.  His sister Vanette {Carl) Roscher. His parents, Bert and Lois Robinson.

He is survived by his many extended family members. Among them is his nephew Greg (Linda) Wade. His niece Rene Wade (Steve) Thompson, and nephew David (Janelle) Wade and numerous other great-nephews and great-nieces.

Roy is remembered with great fondness by a host of friends and business colleagues as being a self-made man and visionary entrepreneur. “I tried to live my life so that my family would love me and my friends respect me. The others can do whatever the hell they please. “John Wayne”

In his honor a funeral service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 10:00am in the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel, Dickinson, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, tribute gifts may be made to the Galveston Bay Foundation or a charity of your choice.
