Rogers “Ramsey” Francis Corkill
December 19, 1944 – February 21, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rogers “Ramsey” Francis Corkill, who left this world on February 21, 2026, at the age of 81.

While it is so very hard to say goodbye, we find peace in knowing that Rogers is reunited in Heaven with the love of his life, his beloved wife of 54 years, Connie Marie Corkill. After more than five decades side by side, we take comfort in imagining them together again.

Rogers lived a life that truly could have been written into a book. Growing up along the Corpus Christi Bay, life was not always easy. He lost his mother at just 11 years old, a loss that shaped his strength and resilience. He attended Roy Miller High School and spent much of his youth on the water, working boats and giving fishing tours alongside his father, known as “The Skipper.” The water was in his blood, and so was his gift for storytelling.

He proudly embraced his Texas roots. He especially loved Whataburger and never missed an opportunity to remind you that it originated in Corpus Christi. A devoted Texas sports fan, he cheered faithfully for the Oilers, Texans, and Astros.

After high school, Rogers served his country in the United States Army with great distinction. He was a proud paratrooper in the elite 82nd Airborne Division, where he served as a Parachute Rigger and later earned his Master Parachutist wings. These achievements reflected his skill, discipline, and leadership. He was also a graduate of Officer Candidate School, a testament to his dedication and capability as a leader. His courage, work ethic, and sense of duty remained with him long after his military service ended.

Following the Army, Rogers’ unmistakable voice and magnetic personality led him to a career as a disc jockey at a local radio station. That passion for music grew into a 25-year career with MCA Records in music promotions, where he worked with well-known artists, traveled extensively, entertained widely, and loved every minute of it. He had a rare ability to connect with anyone, a natural salesman with a larger-than-life personality and the unforgettable gift of gab. In retirement, he was honored for his lasting impact on country radio with his induction into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, a recognition that meant a great deal to him.

Rogers and Connie built a beautiful life together and were incredibly proud parents to their three sons: Roger Francis Corkill II, Joshua Lee Tamburin Corkill, and Nicholas Shane Corkill. The boys kept them very busy over the years with countless activities, events, and milestones, filling their lives with purpose, laughter, and pride. Their home in West Houston’s Deerfield community became a gathering place where lifelong friendships were formed.

In retirement, Rogers and Connie embraced life to the fullest. They traveled throughout Europe, enjoyed cruises, and treasured time spent with the lifelong friends they had made during their years in Deerfield. Their shared adventures and deep friendships were among their greatest joys.

A man of faith, Rogers also found joy and purpose in his church community. He especially loved reading passages from the Bible to the congregation, a role he took to heart and one that reflected his deep faith and steady presence.

Rogers was also a proud and devoted grandfather, affectionately known as “Papa” and “Grandpa Christmas,” to his six amazing grandchildren: Isabelle, Max, Kaylee, Luke, Miles, and Kendall. He adored his wonderful daughters-in-law, Monica Corkill and Marita Corkill, and cherished the time spent with his growing family. He also enjoyed his time with his eldest son’s long-term girlfriend, Lara LeLeux, and her daughter, Gracie Rose.
Rogers is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Connie Marie Corkill; his father, Harry Lee Corkill Sr.; his mother, Dora Mae Womack Corkill; his sister, Billie Corinne Corkill Floyd; and his brothers, Harry Lee Corkill Jr. and Homer Womack Corkill.

We are deeply thankful for the years we were given, even though it is incredibly hard to let him go. His voice, his stories, his laughter, and his larger-than-life presence will echo in our hearts always.

Until we meet again.
