Richard Earl Clifford, Sr.

Richard Earl Clifford, Sr.Richard Earl Clifford, Sr., 62, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Galveston, Texas on June 29, 1951 to Jackson and Grace Clifford. His priority was always family. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a member of the St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in La Marque. Richard was an avid member of the local dirt track racing community, the Sons of the Republic of Texas and the Sons of Confederacy.

Richard is preceded in death by his father; Jackson Arthur Clifford, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years; Shannon Clifford, his mother; Grace Clifford, his two sons; Richard Earl Clifford Jr. and his wife Teresa of Converse, and Stephen Clifford and his wife Stacey of League City, his sister; Carol Christi and her husband Chris of Galveston, and his two brothers; Jackson Arthur Clifford, Jr. and his wife Shirley of Nacogdoches, and William Edward Clifford, Sr. and his wife Cheryl of Simms. Mr. Clifford also leaves behind his seven grandchildren who were the light of his life; Flora Belle Clifford, Lyla Marie Clifford, Izabella Faith Reyna, Henry Robert Clifford, Kendal Bernice Clifford, Tracy Jackson Clifford, and Josephine Grace Clifford, and his lifelong mentors; Cliff Burks, Ray Holbrook, Hershal Glanz, and Marcus Juneman. Richard’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at Clear Lake Regional; Shannon Fowler, Jamie Caldwell and Stephanie Boyett.

Visitation for Mr. Clifford will be held at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2:00pm at St. Michaels’s Episcopal Church in La Marque, with Father Bob Flick officiating.

Pallbearers will be, Stephen Clifford, Richard Earl Clifford Jr., B.G. Debenport, Chris Christi, Scott Moss and Rene Mondejar, with Mike Plowman as an honorary pallbearer. Memorials may be made to the St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in La Marque.
