Peyton “Pete” Johnson, Jr.

Peyton (Pete) Johnson Jr., 73, of Pasadena TX., passed away Sept. 22. 2014, at Michael DeBakey, VA Hospital, Houston, Texas. Pete was born Dec. 7, 1940, in Port Arthur, TX, to Peyton Johnson Sr. and Martha M. Johnson, he was the oldest of four siblings.
He attended schools in Waco and Lacy Lakeview. Upon graduation from Connally High School, he was employed in various work opportunities. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on Aug. 26, 1959 and was honorably discharged Aug. 23, 1963. Returning to Waco, he continued to serve his country in the National Guard for a period of time and entered the work force in different fields. Most of his work career consisted of driving 18 wheelers cross country. In June of 1996, he had to go on disability due to an injury.
He married Patricia Ann Ream, in Waco; from this union, he became the father of four children, two daughters and two sons.
Preceded in death were his parents, an infant son, John, son Ray Johnson, sister Jean Owens and brother Jerome Johnson. He is survived by daughters Libby Fox and husband Tom, Becky Johnson, three grandsons, one great grandson; brother Dale Johnson and wife Carolyn; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Special thanks to his caregiver, of 18 years, Mrs. Mary Hoofard and the doctors and staff of the Houston VA Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at Rosemound Cemetery, in Waco, on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Linda Wimberly officiating.

  2. Pete and I were classmates thru all 12 years of school at Lacy-Lakeview and later Connally ISD. During the years he and my sister, Pat, were married, we had lots of good times when all the kids were growing up. So sorry that you are no longer with us.
