Pauline Sawyer Small

Pauline Sawyer Small entered into the loving arms of the Lord on August 13, 2019 with her family by her side in Houston Texas at the age of 71. She is survived by her husband Richard Orville Small, her daughter, Aimee Cheleen Small, her son Richard Clay Small, her brother Walter Douglas Sawyer and his wife Linda Sawyer. Pauline was born on December 9, 1947 to the parents of Walter Sawyer and Ruby Beken Sawyer. She married Rick on June 12, 1969 at Park Place Lutheran Church. She graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Pauline began her municipal service in 1979 with the City of Sealy and retired as the City Secretary of the City of Webster after 37 years of City Service. Her peers honored her as Texas Municipal Clerk of the Year in 2007. Additionally, the TMCA Salt Grass Chapter distinguished her with Municipal Clerk of the Year in 2001 and again in 2015. Pauline will be remembered most for her strength, love and support, and her beautiful smile . Her life will be celebrated in a memorial service held on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 12-2:00 pm at the Webster Civic Center, 311 Pennsylvania St., Webster. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to the Houston Area Parkinson’s Society or Care Partners: The Gathering Place.
