Neil Hence (Rusty) Pillow, passed away on August 1, 2016, just 14 days shy of his 65th birthday.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Wilmer and Jewel Pillow, and his sisters, Loretta Murphy and Loris Lynn Pillow.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dale, his daughter and son-in-law, Shanna and William Pennock, his grandson, Kaiden, whom he loved to the moon and back, his granddaughter-to-be, Kiley, his mother-in-law, Doris Villarreal, and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

He took such joy in being a grandfather to Kaiden and was looking forward to being a grandfather to Kiley. Kaiden loved working with his PawPaw in whatever job he was working on and PawPaw loved having his Mr. K by his side. He will also be sorely missed by Angel and Levi, the dogs he enjoyed walking every day.

Rusty loved to garden and had a very green thumb; carefully tending to all the plants in his yard. He was also a fanatic about recycling; making frequent trips to the Recycling Center with, not only the recycling from his house, but also the recycling from the Adult Reading Center. He was known to pick up items that could be recycled on his dog walks, or anywhere else he was, so they wouldn’t end up in the trash.

He had a love for his job as a commercial diver and a commercial diving supervisor. He also had a deep love of the ocean and truly was like a fish out of water when he was onshore.

A celebration of life and a confirmation of our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior will be held at 11:00 am on August 5, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church of Pearland with Rev. Casey Jones officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Adult Reading Center or Keep Pearland Beautiful.

  8. Just this a.m. on a fluke, I decided to check facebook for Rusty and came across a post by Sabrina Wilms Terry about his passing. We were best friends through junior high and part of high school. We lost touch over the years, but that’s the way of the world. I am remembering the good times, the laughs, especially the night of “Good Vibrations”, our first smoke together, even the bad times. Rest in peace old friend, I’ve missed you.

  9. I am so shocked and sad to hear of this. I had actually “reached out” to Rusty on Linkedin this morning and sent an email to Albert Gates afterward and he forwarded this site to me. I used to “hang out” with Rusty and Albert in school since 8th grade. The three of us were best friends through the years but lost touch after graduation. We were like brothers and sister, and it is truly our loss that we didn’t keep up with Rusty.
I am so saddened by this loss and I pray that your hearts are healing as time often seems our only “friend” when one so dearly loved has left this earth. You are in my prayers for God to comfort you and keep you in His loving hands until you are reunited in the Kingdom of Our Lord.
If there is anything I can do to bring you any comfort, please do not hesitate to contact me. Patti Lane
