Melinda Lu Yancy

Melinda Lu Yancy, 74, of League City, passed away Monday, January 27, 2020, in League City, surrounded by her loved ones. Melinda was born January 28, 1945 to Robert and Rosalie Oliver in Houston, Texas.  She loved children and dedicated 30 years of service to Houston Independent School District as a psychologist where she was remembered as a “voice for the voiceless.”  Melinda was a graduate of Lamar University and received a Masters Degree in Psychology at the University of Houston in Clear Lake.  “She sacrificed so much to ensure the wellbeing of her children, her own and the students she served.” She will be remembered as kind and loving mother, sister, and granddaughter.

Melinda was preceded in death by her parents.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons Ted Yancy and wife Sybil, and Jon Yancy and wife Virginia; sister, Julie Oliver; brother, Lester Oliver and wife Peggy; grandchildren, Christopher Yancy, Elizabeth Yancy, John Diego Rivas Yancy, Isabella Yancy, Nathaniel Yancy, Marissa Yancy; her adopted granddaughter, Kimberly; and numerous other family members and friends.

In her honor, a memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Crowder Funeral Home Chapel, Dickinson, Texas.
