Maurine Andrée McFather

Maurine Andrée McFather of League City, TX departed this earth to join her Holy Savior on Saturday, May 20, 2017. Maurine was born January 17, 1937 in Columbus, GA to Maude Elizabeth Telzer and Maurice Telzer. An active, nurturing and engagingly social soul, Maurine invested her life in her cherished family as a wife, mother, homemaker and giver-of-self. A natural leader and organizer, Maurine served as President of the Junior Women’s Club and in a variety of leadership positions in Scouting, intramural sports and other interests in direct support of her children.

Maurine was preceded in death by her husband, Jon C. McFather, Sr., of League City, their youngest daughter, Moira K. Farah of Houston, TX; sister, Hope V. Hargrove of League City, TX; and brother, Guy A. Telzer of La Marque, TX.

Maurine is survived by her children, Geoffrey S. McFather (Karen) of Smithfield, VA; Elizabeth A. Buckley (Timothy) of Plano, TX; and Jon C. McFather, Jr. (Mary) of Dickinson, TX; grandchildren, Foster S. McFather (Rosemarie) of Newport News, VA; Sean M. Buckley, Colin M. Buckley and Liam P. Buckley of Plano, TX; Quinn A. Farah of Honolulu, HI; Petty Officer Third Class Coulson A. Farah, USN; Emilia A. McFather and Lilianna M. McFather of Dickinson, TX; brother-in-law, Ben E. Hargrove (Rhonda); sisters-in-law, Gayle F. Telzer and Lucy A. McCormack (Doug); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held, Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10am at the Crowder Funeral Home (https://www.crowderfuneralhome.com/category/obituaries), 1645 East Main Street, League City, TX, officiated by Reverend Ben E. Hargrove.  Maurine will be interred next to her late husband, Jon, at the Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, 7301 Memorial Street, Hitchcock, TX.
