Mary LeDoux Stafford

Mary LeDoux Stafford, 94, passed away on April 15, 2024 in Sugar Land, TX.  Mary was born on June 11, 1929 in Palmetto, Louisiana to Frank LeDoux and Amy Soileau LeDoux.  She enjoyed a happy childhood with her three sisters and two brothers.

Mary moved to Texas City, TX in 1946.  She was a survivor of the Texas City Disaster in 1947.  During the 1940’s and 1950’s, Mary worked at Public Drugs, The Spa and Bradshaw’s Florist in Texas City.

Mary married Donald “Punk” Stafford on February 19, 1955 at First Methodist Church in Texas City.  They were happily married for 42 years.  Mary was a loving and devoted mother to her children Eddie and Donna.

Mary was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church (now known as The Gathering Church) in Texas City.  She generously volunteered her time and talents to the church including cooking countless Sunday dinners for the ministers of the church throughout the years.

Mary was always ready to help anyone in need.  She provided care for many family members and friends.  Mary loved to cook, and she provided the best home-cooked meals and desserts for family, friends, ministers and coworkers over the years.  No one ever left her home hungry.

Mary moved to Sugar Land, TX in 2012 to be near her daughter and son-in-law.  She lived at Brookdale First Colony for 11 years where she formed many friendships.

Mary was preceded in death by parents Frank and Amy Soileau LeDoux, siblings Elizabeth LeDoux Soileau, Frank LeDoux, Annie Lou LeDoux Joubert, Alcide LeDoux, Sr., and Amy LeDoux Van Horn, husband Donald “Punk” Stafford, and son Eddie Ray Stafford.

Mary is survived by daughter Donna and husband Bobby King of Richmond, TX, grandson Casey Stafford of Livingston, TX, granddaughter Maigan Stafford of Texas City, TX,  great-granddaughter Caitlyn Gerhardt and husband Cameron of Texas City, TX,  great-great-grandaughters Rorie and Sydney Gerhardt, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home, 851 FM 517 Rd. W., Dickinson, TX 77539 on Saturday, April 20.  A service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Amerson officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in League City, TX.

Pallbearers will be Mary’s nephews Clayton Mitchell, Chet Mitchell, Travis LeDoux,  Brad LeDoux, Todd Guillot and Cody Tyler.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send donations to The Gathering Church, 2418 7th Avenue North, Texas City, TX 77590.

  4. Donna I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. I remember countless times spent at your house growing up and your mom always being there fixing snacks or taking us places. Great neighborhood memories, we had the best parents. Sending prayers to you and your family.
