Mary Ellen McDevitt Brennan

Mary Ellen McDevitt Brennan, beloved daughter of Thomas and Mary McDevitt, was born on October 21, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York. She passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, at her home in Friendswood, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald Orrin Brennan; brother, Ronnie McDevitt; her sisters, Gertrude Haste, Kay Connolly and Ceil McCartney; and her daughter-in-law Catherine Holley Brennan.

Mary Ellen is survived by her children: Karen Jones and her husband, Wade of Houston, Ronald Brennan, Jr. of Missouri City; Beth Anne Mullen and Vance Britt of Pearland, and Terence Brennan and wife, Tracy of Nolensville, TN. She is also survived by her brother Thomas McDevitt of Lincoln Park, NJ.

She was the proud grandmother of Meagan Elizabeth Brennan; Michael Brennan and his wife, Jordan; David Brennan; Blake Mullen and his wife Kimberly; Bailey Anne Mullen; and Mason Britt; Garrett Jones and his wife Melanie; Graham Jones and his wife Lauren; Harper Creech and her husband Tyson. Her legacy continues through her great grandchildren: Jordan, Addy and Charlotte Mullen; Canyon and Shepherd Jones; Mabel and Lottie Creech; McClaine Jones.

Mary Ellen attended Holy Cross Catholic Schools in New Jersey and graduated in 1958. She and Ron began their life together in Norman, OK, where he earned his degree from the University of Oklahoma. They later returned to New Jersey before settling in Friendswood, Texas, where Ron’s career with Lockheed brought them- and where Mary Ellen would reside for the next 60 years. A woman of quiet strength and enduring grace, Mary Ellen found joy in gardening, reading and exploring new recipes. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with love and laughter.

There will be a private memorial service held.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Alice, Margie, Muriel, Estella, Kelisha, Deidra, and Veronica for their compassionate care during Mary Ellen’s illness.
