Mary Elizabeth Phipps, 90, of La Marque, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in La Marque. Mary was born June 23, 1935, in Dallas Texas, to James and Florence English. Mary graduated from La Marque High School, Class of 1952; she was a cheerleader and the Homecoming Queen. After graduation, Mary worked for the La Marque School District as an Administrative Assistant in the Purchasing Department. She made her way back to Dallas where she worked as an Administrative Assistant for J.C. Penney – Corporate Office until retirement.
Mary spent the last five years living in La Marque with her daughter. She enjoyed spending time near her family who she loved dearly. Mary was deeply rooted in her Baptist Faith and she loved to be in her rose garden.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don Phipps, and six siblings: Virginia Johnson, Margie Harris, Jimmy English, Kenneth English, Carl English and Bobby English. She is survived by two daughters: Debra Davidson of La Marque and Sheri Hall of League City; one brother: Jerry English (Rose) of Irving; three grandchildren: Jeffrey Davidson (Angela), Kyle Davidson (Crissy) and Garet Davidson; and two great grandchildren: Kylie Davidson and Kennedy “KeKe” Davidson.
A visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson. A service will begin at 3:00pm, at the funeral home, with Pastor Wes Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park, with Jeffrey Davidson, Kyle Davidson, Garet Davidson, Carl English, and Ken Harris acting as pallbearers.
