04041410Mary Elaine Foster Spence, 71, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of April 1, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 7, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Howard Drabek officiating.

Elaine was born on May 22, 1942 in the town of Port Arthur, Texas. Born to Leo and Olivia Foster, Elaine was second of four daughters.

Elaine grew up in Starks, Louisiana later moving to Beaumont, TX to attend x-ray technology school. While in college she met her loving husband, Bobby James Spence of Garland, TX.A few years later, Bobby and Elaine were married on September 5 of 1963. During their 50 years of marriage and partnership they raised two incredibledaughters.

Elaine worked as a professional x-ray technician for 43 years, during her outstanding and memorable career she worked at multiple hospitals throughout Texas. She also was known for her great cooking skills at home and at work. Elaine could cook anything, from homemade burgers to her amazing Cajun gumbo. She was also giving and caring, especially when it came to her family and grandchildren. Elaine was always willing to go above and beyond for her family.

Elaine is preceded in death by her loving parents, Leo and Olivia Foster.

Elaine will be missed by all those that loved her, especially her devoted husband Bobby James Spence along with their two loving daughters, Dayna Spence of League City, Texas and Dawn Foreman and husband Mike of League City, Texas, as well as her six grandchildren: Zachary, Joshua, Matthew, Jacob, Alexandra and Olivia Foreman; along with her four great-grandchildren: Tiffany, Noah, Jonah and Sophia; her three sisters: Jeanette Martini of Walnut Creek, California, Melita Poole of Starks, Louisiana, and Melba Gray of Livingston, Texas.

Elaine will forever be engraved in the hearts of those she touched with her generous, kind and loving spirit as a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
