Lon Charles Carlton

Lon Charles Carlton, 80 of San Leon went to be with our Lord on March 28, 2026.  He was a devout Christian, loving husband, father and grandfather.  Lon was Born on December 11, 1945 in Freeport, Texas to Curtis Elton & Gwendolyn Smith Carlton.

Lon grew up in Brazoria County, graduating with Class of 1964 at Columbia High School, West Columbia, Texas.  Lon worked for Brown & Root for 28 years running heavy equipment at what was known as Amoco in Texas City.  Brenda and Lon married December 1999 in Pearland, TX.

He is preceded in death by his father, Curtis Carlton; his mother, Gwendolyn Carlton; and grandson Hunter Rudd.

Lon is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Brenda Carlton of San Leon, Texas, his son Curt Carlton of North Richland Hills, Texas, daughter Gwen Parker of Mansville, Texas, stepsons Chad Anderson of Little Elm, Texas, Christopher Rudd of San Leon, Texas; stepdaughter Virginia Taylor and husband Rossie of San Antonio.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Sydney Rudd of Seattle, Ethan Carlton of Dallas, Thomas Parker of Mansville, TX, Mickéla Taylor and Xavier Taylor of San Antonio, TX and Andrew Savoie of San Leon, TX.  Lon loved living by the bay, his cats, fishing and spending time with his friends and family.

Memorial Services will be at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main Street (FM 518), League City, TX on April 17, 2026 at 2:00.

  2. My dear friend, Mr. Lon, you have gone ahead of us on that path we all must travel to meet with God. There are no words to help us come to terms with your departure; I ask only that God welcome you into His mansion—that dwelling place where pain exists no more, and where you will spend eternity in praise. My deepest condolences go out to your family; I pray that God grants them strength and that they find peace amidst this sorrow. May God’s angels guide you to that eternal home. So be it.
