Leon Smith

Leon Smith, 85, a resident of Pearland, TX for over 30 years passed away June 23, 2023 in Houston, TX. Leon was born in Goose Creek, TX on October 22, 1937. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 490. He retired from TX DOT after 30 plus years.

Leon and Beth moved to Lake Livingston after retirement to enjoy their beautiful lake house and recently moved back to Pearland. “The Lake” was Leon’s happy place and enjoyed tinkering with tools and motors out in his workshop. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix.

In Roger’s heart, his father was the kindest, humble and nonjudgmental man that he ever met.  “He was a man that I always looked up to, a man that I wanted to make proud and who I was proud to say was my Dad.” Shannon was and will always be his baby girl.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Smith; sisters: Alma “Bobbie” Gates, and Katherine Smaistrla; brother, Wilburn Smith.

Leon leaves behind the love of his life for 41 years, Elizabeth Smith; daughter, Shannon Ser and he husband Brad; step-daughter, Diana Reno and her husband Reno; son, Roger Smith and his fiance’ Susan ; step-son, Victor Vann and his wife Olivia; grandchildren: Billy Ser, Haeven Smith, Austin Ser, Addison Smith, and Jackson Ser.

A memorial visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 E. Broadway St. Pearland, TX 77581.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

    I am so sorry to hear about Leon. I will always remember the first time that you brought him home to Georgia for a family visit over 40 years ago. The two of you were so blessed to have found each other and shared the years and made the memories that you have had together. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
