Katie Linda Medina - obit picKatie Linda Medina, loving mother, precious daughter and sister, and beloved friend, age 23, passed away on August 4, 2014. Katie is survived by her daughter Ada Dawn Knight, parents Enrique and Kaylene Medina, brother Enrique Medina II, of Dickinson, TX, grandmothers Martina Sanchez of Eagle Pass, TX and Flois Reed Bichsel of Lockney, TX and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from across the US and Mexico.
Katie was a vivacious, spontaneous spirit who enjoyed road trips, music festivals, and most of all, meeting new people. She was cherished by those who met her and loved by any who were fortunate enough to get to know her.
Katie attended Dickinson Public Schools, Archway Academy, and was a graduate of Three Oaks Academy. She attended San Jacinto College and Houston Community College working on a Dental Hygienist program. She enjoyed reading and knowledge, especially subjects involving human anatomy and pyschology.
Katie was baptized and confirmed in the First United Methodist Church of Dickinson, TX. There she also joined the Girl Scout Program. She was a 7-year Girl Scout who enjoyed the activities and nature studies, but most of all she loved the comradery of the other girls.
Katie was proud of signing up to be an organ and tissue donor. At least 7 people’s lives were saved or greatly improved by gifts of life. Her legacy lives on through her gift of organ and tissue donation. Her family encourages others to sign up as life gift donors.
Katie’s family wishes to express how comforting the outpouring of love for Katie has been. She will be remembered and cherished by hundreds of people.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, 200 FM 517 W., Dickinson, Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Lifeway International
