Katherene (Kathy) Lida Brown (91) of Santa Fe, Texas went to her heavenly home on November 15, 2023.  Kathy was born on June 9, 1932 to parents Asa and Gladys McDow in Houston, TX and was the youngest of 2 siblings.

Kathy loved all of God’s creations but especially horses.  With a young family, Kathy and husband Cecil rode in the Saltgrass Trail Ride to Houston with their 4 young children in a covered wagon.  She participated in local rodeos as a flag bearer and entered equine events with her beloved horse Sebastian.  She also became the first woman lineman while she was raising her family and working for General Telephone.  She was an avid fisherwoman and enjoyed having a yard of farm animals.  Kathy dedicated her life to her family and always loved having her home full of children.  Her door was always open for her children and grandchildren and all who came in with them.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Asa and Gladys McDow, sister Billie Newmann, husband Cecil E. Brown and her youngest son Benny J. Brown.

Kathy is survived by her son Larry and wife Vickie Brown, daughters Karen Brown, Pam Brown and Cindy Watkins.  Grandchildren Amy and husband Matt Cartwright, Aaron and wife Jennifer Ricicar, Benny and wife Katie Brown, Lauren Brown and Brandon Wingate.  Great-Grandchildren Kayla Cartwright, Alek Ricicar, Annabelle Ricicar and many other extended family members.

On Monday November 20, 2023 a visitation will be held from 9:00am – 10:00am with the service starting at 10:00am.  Both will be held at Crowder Funeral Home, 851 FM 517 Dickinson, TX 77539 with Pastor Stephen Kimpel officiating.
