Julia Ann Kelly

“Angels were calling…and she answered”

Julia Ann Kelly passed away suddenly on 10.28.2020 in Clear Lake, TX. Julia was born Feb. 12, 1944 in Dallas TX to Leta Mae Dudley and Herbert Garland Dudley. She is preceded in death by husband Bobby Kelly. She is survived by daughter Kari Hoffman and husband Bill Hoffman, grandchildren Amanda, Dylan and wife Caitlin, Tyler and wife Amber, great-grandchildren Austin, Alaina, and Eliza, her daughter Kristi Linscomb, grandchildren Shelbi Wasley, Mallori and Chris Montgomery, and MacKenzie LInscomb, and great-grandchildren Cheyanne, Rivers Kate, Trenton, Riggins, Colt, Ellizyn and  Dawson. She is also survived by sister Betsy Lake and husband Lloyd Lake and nieces Sheri Malenda and Nicole, sister-in-law Michelle Kelly Reddell and husband John Reddell, niece Kelsey, niece Addelyn and husband Chase Adamek and great-grandniece Aniston. She graduated high school at Woodrow Wilson in Dallas, TX. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree at SMU in English and achieved a Master’s in Education at Lamar University.

Julia taught English for 43 years and was a treasured mentor, influencing the lives of countless schoolchildren. She was famous for giving “Snickers” as a well-deserved reward (she also ate a few herself). She is remembered fondly by students, family and friends as “Momma Bear”, “Aunt Juju” and “Grammar”. She was an avid traveler, sports fan, and a gourmet cook. She sang her special “Happy Birthday Song” and gave joy to all her family every single year on their birthday.  She was never afraid to speak her mind and was always her authentic self. She was in a lot of pain recently, and though she left many broken hearts behind, she is no longer suffering. Rest in Peace, Julia – fly with the angels. You will be dearly missed.
