Josephine Gracia, 73, of Dickinson, Texas, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Clear Lake, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dance.

Josephine was born in Texas City, Texas on February 16, 1953, to Simon Navarro Sr. and Rosie Martinez. She is now happily reunited with her loving husband, Abel Gracia Sr.; her parents; her sister, Helen Maldonado; and her brother, Simon Navarro Jr.

A woman of profound faith, Josephine was a devoted member of the Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson. Her faith was her anchor, but her family was her absolute world. To know Josephine was to know, without a doubt, that her three boys and her grandchildren were the center of her universe. Her love for them was deep, unconditional, and fiercely protective.

Professionally and Civically minded, Josephine was a lifelong, dedicated member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Dickinson, proudly serving her community and eventually taking the chair as President.

Josephine was a sports fanatic. Her loyalty was divided only by the schedules of her favorite teams: the Dickinson Gators, Clear Creek Wildcats, Houston Astros, and Houston Texans. If a game was on, Josephine was watching.

Josephine never met a stranger, possessed a legendary generosity, and carried an infectious laugh that could light up any room. She treasured time with her family and friends, especially her sisters. Their shopping trips and lunch dates were filled with endless, hilarious stories of growing up together.

But if there is one thing Josephine will be remembered for, it is her absolute love for life and the dance floor. Josephine loved to sing, craft, and watch sports, but put on a good song, and she was unstoppable. She was famously the first one on the dance floor and the absolute last one to leave and she genuinely did not care if she was the only one out there cutting a rug.

To say she will be missed is a profound understatement. Her love, her unmistakable laugh, and her signature woohoos will forever be imprinted on the hearts of everyone who loved her.

Josephine is survived by her sisters, Rosie Navarro, Julie Grochske, and Sarah Sanchez (Ruben); and her three devoted sons, Cain Gracia (Carol), Eugene Gracia (Ashley), and Abel Gracia Jr. (Shanda). She also leaves behind the absolute joys of her life, her grandchildren: Cain Joseph Gracia, Kylie Marie Gracia, Jordan Eugene Gracia, and Brady Allen Gracia; as well as countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In her honor, there will be a visitation on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 9:00am to 10:00am and a rosary at 10:00am at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A funeral service will follow at 11:00am.  Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
