Jolie Marie Peel,

Jolie Marie Peel, 33, of League City, peacefully passed away, March 16, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones. Jolie was born March 30, 1985 to Chris and Jeanie Thuneman in Baton Rouge, LA. She graduated from Friendswood High School, attended Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia and finished her degree at the University of Houston Clear Lake. While attending college, she worked at The Crab Shack on the James and Floyd’s Cajun Seafood. After graduating she became the client service manager for Best Care Laboratories and then CMMS Labs. As a certified mediator, Jolie found joy helping others resolve difficult issues. Jolie was also a loyal member of The Harbor in Friendswood.

Everyone needs to feel special, to feel that they are valued, to feel appreciation, and to be honored by others. Jolie knew this more than most and offered words of encouragement and affirmation, sometimes to the annoyance of her siblings. She proudly (and loudly) cheered them, not only during events, but during the walks to and from the events. She didn’t know a stranger and could quickly turn a dull get-together into a room filled with laughter. Her contagious smile lit up the room and earned her the occasional nickname of “squints.” Her fire burned bright and even though she couldn’t carry a tune, it never stopped her from trying. She always had a rosy attitude, a glint in her eye, and open arms. Jolie made a lasting impression during her short time on Earth and those who had the honor to really know her will never forget the impact she made simply by just being there.

Jolie leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 7 years Matthew Peel; fur babies Captain Little Hook, Marley, Layla, and Eggsy; parents Christopher James Thuneman and wife Kathy and Jean Marie McKowen Thuneman and companion David Stephen Ament; parents-in-law Cynthia and Robert Peel; sister Jennifer Lee McKeeby; brothers Steven Michael Thuneman and wife Meghan, and David James Thuneman and wife Lucy; brothers-in-law David Peel and wife Jennifer, and Michael Peel and wife Heather; nieces and nephews, Henry, June, Isaac, Rose, and Evan Thuneman, Connor and Madeline Cleary, Ryder McKeeby, Blayke and Benjamin Peel; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jolie is reunited with her grandparents Henry and Shirley McKowen and Earl Thuneman. She is likely feeding the ducks while watching tennis and listening to knock-knock jokes.

In her honor, a memorial visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, March 22, 2019, at Crowder Funeral Home, Dickinson. A Celebration of Jolie’s Life will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 23, 2019, at The Harbor Church, 2821 Parkwood Ave., Friendswood, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.Houstonpolicefoundation.org/donate, www.theharbor.life, or the charity of your choice. Additionally, Jolie lived to do acts of service and would be delighted if you did a random act of kindness in her memory.

  5. I’m deeply sorry for your loss. It’s been a while since I have been around Jolie but I only have memories of a fun loving, beautiful person who always seemed to have a zest for life. Her beauty radiated from within and was infectious. When we speak her name it will always bring a smile to our face and sadness to our heart because she is not here. I know she is for every young and healthy and happy in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “ When we all get to Heaven what a day of rejoicing it will be. When we all see Jesus we will sing and shout the victory”. How amazing it must be for Jolie to be in the presence of Jesus for eternity. Praying for peaceful memories and comfort from our Heavenly Father for all during this time of grief.
