Johnny Daniel Gomez, Sr., 73, of Texas City, Texas, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014. Johnny was born March 8, 1941, in Wharton County, Texas, to Balbino and Geneva Gomez. Johnny served in the United States Army. Johnny liked to fish and loved golfing, it was his favorite pastime. Johnny was a loving and caring father and loved his family. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sheila Gomez. Johnny is survived by his son Johnny Gomez, Jr. (Loretta Alvarez); his daughters: Laurie Ramirez (Mario), Gina Gomez (Alonzo Martinez); two sisters: Esperanza “Hopie” Lingenfelter (Larry), Vickie Skalsky; four brothers: Andrew Gomez (Maria), Balbino Gomez, Jr. (Janet), Richard Gomez (Kathe), Victor Gomez; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am, Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. Services will follow at 11:00 am, at the funeral home, with Deacon Joe Hensley officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, in Hitchcock.
