Jim Eugene Haines

Jim Eugene Haines, of League City, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020 in Nassau Bay, Texas at Houston Methodist St John Hospital at the age of 85.

Jim was born June 15, 1934 in Hinton, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of 4 brothers and 1 sister. Preceding him in death are his 4 brothers. Jim had a very strong love for cars. After attending public school, he worked at a car restoration shop to fund his education as a Mechanical Engineer.

Jim married Betty Huey in 1955. Following graduation, Jim went to work for The Boeing Company as a Draftsman where he eventually began work on the Saturn 5 and Apollo space programs. He worked his way up through the ranks and was transferred to Seattle, Washington, working for Boeing Computer Services as an Executive for the Safety, Reliability, and Quality Assurance Division. After 45 years with Boeing he retired with his wife Betty to Surprise, Arizona. With a strong faith in God he was instrumental in starting the Surprise Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for several years until relocating to League City, Texas to be close to family.

He had a strong love for family, was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a kind, gentle and compassionate man. Jim leaves behind his wife Betty, his daughter Kathy Wilson, her husband Steve Wilson, daughter Janet DeWitt and her husband Rick DeWitt, grandchildren Chad Hundley, Jennifer Parlo and her husband, Kevin Parlo, Courtney Cooper and her husband Justin Cooper, Ashley Hawthorne and her husband Alton Hawthorne, great grandchildren Aaron Cooper, Aubrey Cooper and  Miles and Henry Hawthorne. His sister, Mary Anderson as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 1:30 pm with a Ceremony at 2:00 pm at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573.
