Jennie V Blair
Jennie V Blair passed away peacefully on April 12, 2020, at the age of 86 years. Jesus arose in the wee hours of Easter and took our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with him to Heaven. She will be greatly missed as the greatest mother, always compassionate, always fiercely protective of her family, and so loving. Jennie V was born to Murl William and Ruby Jennie McDonald (Gott) on October 5, 1933, in Kenedy, Texas. The family moved to San Antonio to open family bakeries, and where Jennie V graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and met and married John Barfoot in 1954, with whom she had 3 children. Jennie V married Col (Ret.) Roland Blair in 1990, and remained married until his death in 2005.
Over the course of her life, Jennie V worked as an executive secretary on the then-secret B52 Project at Edwards AFB in the mid-1950s, for the San Antonio Fire Chief in the early 1960s, and for Baker Hughes VPs later in life. She gave the majority of her life to her children and grandchildren and was a homemaker like none other.
Jennie V was preceded in death by her parents Murl and Ruby, her sister Myrlene Knotek, and husband Roland Blair.
She is survived by her children Johnnie Barfoot (Darlene), Janine Barfoot (fiance Daryl Lummus), and Jack Barfoot (Colleen), stepson Jack Blair, grandchildren Lindsey, Chancellor, Autumn, Liberty, Samuel, Sarah, Chris, Brooks, Mackeson, RhondaRose, and Kalegrace, and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff of The Cottages at Clear Lake for their unwavering care of mom. The family will be having a private celebration of Jennie V’s life April 14th, but will have a memorial ceremony after the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. In lieu of flowers that may have been sent to a public service, the family asks that donations be made in Jennie V’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, https://www.alz.org.
Jennie V added spark to my life in many ways, especially when she and “Little John” lived with my family in his first year of life. She had ways to calm the waters — and to stir them up! May John, Janine and Jack find ever-growing joy in good memories.

Jennie V. was a great friend and associate. She helped me in innumerable ways during our days at Baker Hughes and was always supportive and committed. She was just a great lady to have known. My condolences go out to her family which I know she cherished and deeply loved.

Ma, no other words can describe her. My adopted Ma she will always be thanks to my childhood friendship with Janine. Johnny, Jack and Janine were truly blessed to have such a wonderful and loving mother. I will forever be thankful to this beautiful lady, she made me feel at home whenever I would come pay a visit and will remember that look, oh that look, if I somehow said something she did not approve of, then she would follow it up with a wink and a smile as if saying I gotcha. Memories, I have a few, having been loved by this wonderful lady, I consider myself truly lucky. I know how much I will miss her, but will be reminded of her each time I get together with Janine and family. Love and miss ya Ma!

Jennie V. kept me on the straight and narrow for years as a very supportive associate. She was one of the best and most efficient assistant I had over my 40+ years in business. Everyone in the Finance Department knew they could count on her when I wasn’t available. A very devoted Baker employee who had her family as number 1, but Baker was number 2. It’s hard to believe she has passed, but is in a better place, most likely keeping things organized and proper. We’ll pray for the family and pray that the Lord holds her close.
