Jennie “Jimmie” Maxine Leonard

Mrs. Jennie “Jimmie” Maxine Leonard, 81, a four-year resident of Pearland, Texas and former resident of New Caney, Texas, passed away surrounded by love on January 31, 2018.  Jimmie was born June 21, 1936 in Oakhurst, Texas.  She was an artist and a poet, spending many a day painting leaves, rocks, sticks, or anything else that would stand still.  An avid fisherwoman, Jimmie could clear the dock with an enthusiastic helicopter cast.  Jimmie was notorious for her practical jokes, including some creative voicemail greetings and substituting salt for sugar in a lemon meringue pie.  Her heart was as big as her sense of humor, and her infectious laugh will surely be missed.  Jimmie attended Peach Creek Baptist Church in New Caney.  She was a member of Eastern Star and American Legion Post #397.

Jimmie is preceded in death by her sons Robert W. “Sam” Leonard, Jr. and Michael Wyatt Leonard, as well as her parents Cecil and Zelta Wyatt.

She leaves behind her son James David Leonard and wife Vicki; daughters-in-law Richelle Leonard and Annette Leonard; grandchildren Alicia Leonard and Omar Khan, Jason Reese and wife Livia, Scott Leonard and Darcy Cates, and Kevin Leonard and wife Katie; and great-grandchildren Trevor Guerrero, Bradyn Reese, and Willow Leonard.

There will be a funeral service held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home, 2422 Broadway Pearland, Texas 77581 with a burial to follow at Center Hill Cemetery 110 Center Hill Rd Oakhurst, Texas 77359 with Pastor William Price officiating.

Pallbearers will be James Leonard, Jason Reese, Kevin Leonard, Scott Leonard, Omar Kahn, and Robert “Bob” Burns.
