Jeannette Strangmeyer Wheatley, 73, forty year resident of Dickinson, Texas, passed away August 3, 2015. She was born March 10, 1942 in Brenham, Texas to parents George Strangmeyer and Clara (Weiss) Strangmeyer. She was married to Edward L. Wheatley in Texas City in June 1962. They were married for fifty years when he passed away in March 2012.
Jeannette worked for ANICO in both the Galveston and South Shore offices and retired after forty years of service.
She enjoyed reading, growing plants, and taking care of the pets she has taken in over the years.
She is survived by sisters, Ruth Calhoun and husband R.L. and Clara Smith. Also surviving are her nephews Gordon Smith and Derek Calhoun; niece, Melanie Calhoun; grandniece, Tori Smith. Jeannette is also survived by her husband’s niece, Jackie Purkiss; several cousins, and longtime friends.
We would like to thank all of the people at Bayou Pines Care Center for treating our sister with kindness and compassion during her stay there.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
