Janet Aleen Leach

Janet Aleen Leach, 83, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day at home surrounded by her family.  Memorial services will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas at 2:00 pm.  Visitation will be at 1:00 pm prior to the memorial service.

Janet was born on October 20, 1935 in Greenville, Iowa to George and Vennetta (Mitchell) Veitch.  After graduating high school, Janet attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital Nurses training as a Registered Nurse.  Janet married Robert E. Leach on May 224, 1959they had two children, Laura and Steven.  Janet’s nursing career included Emergency Room Nurse in Sioux City, IA, Operating Room Surgical Nurse in Pierre, SD, Director of Nursing in Eldora, IA, and Hospice Nurse in Charles City, IA.  Janet and Robert celebrated 59 years of marriage.  They enjoyed traveling around the United States, around the world and many cruises during their time together.

Janet’s memory is honored by her loving husband, Robert, of League City, TX, daughter, Laura Heitland, Marshalltown, IA, son, Steven (Carolyn) Leach, Hitchcock, TX.  Grandchildren, Sarah Heitland, Erik Heitland, Rachael Leach, Daniel Leach, and great-grandson Jason Lau.   Siblings, Marjean Gulizia, Terry (Nira) Veitch and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  She is proceeded in death by her parents, George and Venetta Veitch, brothers, Donald Veitch and Carroll (Stub) Veitch and sisters in law, Margo Veitch, Helen Veitch, Dorothy Veitch and niece Ruth Veitch Larsen.  Janet will be buried with her family at Fanny Fern Cemetery near Spencer, IA.

  1. Such a sweet lady. I knew her best as a grandma who was dedicated to being there for her grandchildren. She graced the Abundant Life Knights gym and school on so many occasions to support Rachael and Daniel as they played and performed in their many school events.
