James Douglas “Jim” Kizer, 77, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Born on July 26, 1949, in Greenwood, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Hector and Louise Kizer.

Jim earned his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Carolina. As a graduate student, he shared his knowledge by teaching at Midlands Technical College before embarking on a distinguished career as a chemical engineer. His master’s thesis on IONs exchange was published and referenced by other engineers. He was a proud member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, where he remained committed to advancing his profession throughout his career.

Jim was a faithful member of Gateway Community Church in Houston, Texas.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, James found his greatest joy spending time with his beloved wife of 53 years, Delores. Together they shared a love for golf, creating countless cherished memories on the course. An accomplished golfer who played on many prestigious golf courses but, Jim especially treasured playing at his favorite course, LinRick Golf Course in Columbia, South Carolina.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Delores Kizer; his son, James Daryl Kizer and wife, Kristen, of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; his grandsons, Jonathan Kizer and Daniel Kizer; his sister-in-law, Ginny Robinson and husband, Robert; a special nephew, Van Robinson, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and extend family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hector and Louise Kizer; his brothers, Randolph Kizer, Kenneth Kizer, and Donald Kizer; and his brother-in-law, Lynwood Broome.

Jim will be remembered for his brilliant mind, unwavering integrity, gentle spirit, and the love he so freely gave to his family and friends. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, both personally and professionally.

A Reception for Mr. Kizer will be held from 12 to 2 p.m., Saturday, August 22th, at Crowder Funeral Home, 111 E. Medical Center Blvd., Webster, Texas 77598.
