Jacqulyn “Jackie” Allbritton O’Mara Nix Garcia, 84, passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2026, surrounded by her family.  Born September 14, 1942, in Galveston, Texas, to Owen Haney Allbritton and Elma Agnes Dudley Allbritton, Jackie was one of nine children and a lifelong Galvestonian. She was a strong, resilient woman whose life centered around family.

Jackie was the mother of five children: John William O’Mara Jr., Susie Midkiff, Arthur John O’Mara, Ernest Owen O’Mara, and William Jay O’Mara. She became the matriarch of a large family spanning generations.

Known for her strength, determination, and grit, Jackie loved through sacrifice, responsibility, and protection. Her home was always full, and her door was never closed. There was always something cooking, sometimes more than one meal, and everyone knew there was a place for them at hertable. Her home was a gathering place where generations of memories were made.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her children, John William O’Mara Jr., Susie Midkiff, Arthur John O’Mara, and Ernest Owen O’Mara; her granddaughter, Brandi Leigh Hardy; and her siblings, Owen Elmer Allbritton, Laura Mae Gardner, Geraldine “Jeri” Carreras, Rose Marie “Pumpkin” Allbritton, Darroll Wayne “Buddy” Allbritton, and Owen Haney Allbritton.

She is survived by her son, William Jay O’Mara and wife Cassandra; grandchildren, John William O’MaraIII and wife Dawn, Samantha O’Mara, Gregory Moore Midkiff, Ernest Owen O’Mara, Christy Ann Ruiz, Amanda Anne Ponder, John Wesley O’Mara, Megan Alexandra O’Mara, Katie Bryd and husband Kevin, Kobe Rushing and husband Taylor, and Esta Marie J. O’Mara; brothers, Vincent Milo and wife Mayra, and Rickie Lee Allbritton; 25 great grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Eighty-four years created a lifetime of stories, laughter, lessons, sacrifices, memories, and love. Her chair may now be empty, but the place she holds within her family never will be.

Services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Jacqulyn’s life and the legacy she leaves behind.
