Jack Denman Davis

Jack Denman Davis, of League City, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at the age of 79. He was born on September 23, 1941 in Houston, Texas to Gus and Dorothy Davis.
He began his career in the United States Air Force at Glascow Air Force Base, MT in September of 1961, where he met his beautiful wife, Polly. They married in 1965 and he brought her back to his hometown of Houston, TX where they started their family. He went on to join the Houston Fire Department, serving 36 years, retiring as a Senior Captain. He loved country music, travelling to visit family in Montana, enjoying good food and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. He was most in his element behind a grill with beer (or whiskey on ice) in hand, family & friends close by, Merle Haggard on the stereo and the Astros or Texans playing – that was what he enjoyed most.
Jack was Preceded in death by Sister Carole Gay, Grandson Ryan Christopher Blackwell and Brother Marvin “Bubba” Davis
He is survived by wife Polly Davis, Sisters Norma “Cissy” Glawson & Brenda Martin, Daughters: Deirdre Melnar. Spouse Randy – Austin, TX; Adrienne Kendall. Spouse Milton – League City, TX; Jessica Kelley. Spouse Brian – Temple TX, Grandchildren: Michael Blackwell, Los Angeles CA – Kevin Blackwell, Austin, TX – Jackson Elings, Okaloosa County, FL – Elisabeth Elings, League City, TX – Kara Kelley, Temple, TX – Rowan Kelley, Temple, TX
The Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 3:00PM with a Ceremony at 4 o’clock at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573. A Grave Side Ceremony will follow on Thursday at 9:30AM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038
In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable contributions in memory of Jack Davis to be sent to Brain Support Network, PO Box 7264, Menlo Park, CA 94026 brainsupportnetwork.org

Due to COVID 19, Crowder Funeral Home in League City will require all visitors to wear a mask and maintain a social distance of six feet from attendees. Maximum occupancy is 75 guests. Upon entering the funeral home, attendees will be kindly asked to enter the chapel and be seated. Please maintain a social distance during the processional, recessional and while seated. Your assistance during this difficult time is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

  6. Dear Polly, I don’t know if you remember me, but I wanted to pass my sincerest condolences to you and your daughters. My brother, Jim called me last night with the sad news of Jack’s passing. I have so many fond memories of him and and all the high school buddies that he and Jim shared.
