Irene Vela Ontiveros beloved mother, of League City, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026, at her home in League City, Texas at the age of 89. She was born on February 19, 1937, in Houston, Texas to Jasper and Bertha Castillo.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roberto Ontiveros Sr. and her parents Jasper and Bertha Castillo and sister Bertha Garcia, Velma Rizo and brother Jasper Castillo Jr.

Irene is survived by her three children Renée Ontiveros Sanders, (Bill), Roberto Ontiveros Jr. (Sharon), Lorraine Christine Ontiveros.

In addition, grandchildren Brittany C. Harris (Simeon), James R. Nieves, Jason D. Nieves,

Brandon M. Sanders, Armand C. Ontiveros. And great-grandchildren Beau and Cruz Harris. Plus, many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 21, 2026: at 6pm for the Rosary starting at 6:30pm. At Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main, League City, Texas 77573. A Mass will follow on Thursday at 10:30 am at St. Mary of the Expectation Catholic Church, 1612 East Walker, League City, Texas 77573 with Father Simon Kipiti presiding, Interment will take place at Houston Nation Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
