Harold “Butch” A. Johnson
Harold “Butch” A. Johnson, 77, of Dickinson, Tx, passed away on November 21,2025. He was born on July 09, 1948, to Betty and Herbert Johnson in Fairfield, IA. Butch graduated from Fairfield High School in 1966. In 1968, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served his country with honor.
After returning home, Butch poured his mechanical talents into building his career. He founded Butch’s Trans and Auto, a shop he owned and operated for more than 30 years. Known for his honesty, skill, and commitment to his customers, he built a business – and a reputation – that will not be forgotten.
Butch found joy in the roar of engines and open roads. He loved NASCAR and drag racing, the freedom of motorcycle riding, and the challenge of building transmissions. He had a special place in his heart for all of his tractors – each one a testament to his hands-on spirit and love of machinery.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents Betty and Herbert Johnson; his brother Randy Johnson; and son Jay Allen.
He is survived by his son, Heath Barrow, his grandchildren, Joseph Barrow, David Barrow, Hannah Barrow, and Elizabeth Barrow.
In his honor, a visitation will be held at the Crowder Funeral Home, 851 FM 517 Rd W, Dickinson, Tx 77539 on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. with a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at a later date at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa.

He will be greatly missed. and was loved by every one that knew him.
Butch, you were a great friend. You got us and many family members out of auto woes and binds. We were neighbors for many years. God speed, on your new journey. You will be missed.

Butch was a “very special friend” who I loved dearly. He was a very caring and generous man who helped so many folks. He left an indelible mark on the minds of all who loved and cared for him. He loved GOD and believed GOD was there for him every day. He felt truly blessed. He loved Josh and Andy and I am forever grateful to them for having been there for him for so many wonderful years!! He was very grateful!!
