Gordon “Ross” Houston
It is with heavy hearts, yet countless cherished memories, that we share the passing of Gordon “Ross” Houston on May 28th, 2025 at the age of 69 in Nassau Bay, Texas, his home of over 20 years.
He was born in Omak, Washington to Bill and Peggy Houston on April 28th, 1956 and is survived by his wife of 47 years, Julie; his children and their significant others: David, Melanie, Katie, and Keith; his brothers Randy and Steve; and hundreds of friends and extended family members whose lives he touched with his generous spirit.
Ross grew up in the small town of Okanogan, WA and became known as an Alpine skiing phenom. He used these talents to acquire a scholarship to the University of Wyoming, where he was captain of the ski team, winning multiple NCAA National Championship accolades and receiving first-team All-American honors. His life changed in 1976 when he met Julie Streeter in a chance encounter in their dorm elevator, sparking a love story spanning nearly five decades. Inseparable from that moment, they married two years later (August 20th, 1978), welcoming David in 1982, and Katie in 1984.
Ross began his engineering career in Casper, WY and his expertise then took him worldwide, building infrastructure projects in Jamaica, Barbados, Canada, Ghana, Swaziland, and across the United States, while establishing his own successful engineering firm. Ross also traveled the world extensively with Julie, visiting six continents. Ross met kings, presidents, and CEOs, but treated everybody with the same warmth and genuine care. Ross lived and loved life with humor and a positive spirit. Everyone who knew Ross can share multiple funny stories and cannot help but smile when they think of him. He loved life and he loved other people, and the world is a less funny and joyful place without him.
In his typical spirit, Ross did not want a somber service but rather a Celebration of Life. This event is scheduled for August 9th at his home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a gift to one of Ross’ preferred charities:

I miss you Brother Ross!
Words are too insignificant to express our loss from here on earth.
Until we meet again brother
I love you

Ross and my paths crossed many times. I always found him a big and competent help, and ready to stop and help a friend, at any time.
