Giovanna Viscariello
Giovanna Viscariello, age 99, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, at her home in Friendswood, Texas, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 2, 1927, in Airola, Italy. Giovanna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Frank Viscariello, and her precious daughter, Rosina. She is survived by her two sons, Antonio and Angelo; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
After immigrating to America with her family, Giovanna and Frank settled in Raritan, New Jersey, where they raised their family. Following their retirement, they moved to Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They also cherished spending months at a time in their second home in Italy, traveling back and forth to the country she always held close to her heart.
Giovanna found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She loved cooking for those she loved, tending her garden, spending time at the ranch, and vacationing with her children and grandchildren. She was a familiar and beloved presence at the family restaurant, where she could often be found visiting with customers gathered around the “Family Table.”
Giovanna was the true matriarch of our family. She led by example, modeling an extraordinary work ethic, unwavering love for her family, deep respect for others, and enduring kindness. She had a warm smile that made everyone feel welcome, and her legacy will live on through the generations she inspired. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Ah Giovanna! She would recognize you when you entered the restaurant and asked about your family. Then she was comfortable to welcome you into her life and talk about her family. That welcoming Italian spirit added to the ambiance of Angelo’s Restaurant. Rest in peace.
What a wonderful friend she was to our group when we came to celebrate our birthdays and many other times. We had some good visits, she will be missed and know the angels will be taking her hand. Please Rest in peace.

Zia Giovanna was zen before I even knew what zen was. For as long as I can remember, she met whatever life threw her way with a shrug of the shoulders and a simple, “Che puoi fare?” It wasn’t just something she said—it was how she lived.
I always loved that about her, and apparently my parents did too, because it’s a trait they eventually adopted from her. It’s a very Italian way of accepting what you can’t change and carrying on with grace.
She had a quick wit, a beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and a wicked sense of humor that always made me laugh. She loved her family and was so proud to talk about them.
The last time I saw her was at my uncle’s funeral. Even then, she was the epitome of strength and dignity.
I’m so proud to call this wonderful woman—our Zia Giovannina—my aunt. She was everything a zia should be: sweet, caring, funny, strong, and always full of love.

My sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the Viscariello’s, along with family and friends of Mrs. Giovanna Viscariello. Mrs. Giovanna she was one kind, thoughtful strong caring lady! I was so grateful to know her, she gave me a warm feeling like if she was a grandma to me. She always had a great smile and gave me hugs. I remember, she tried to teach me Italian phrases like “Ciao, Buongiorno, Ristorante, Grazie, Prego, Amore, Famiglia, Nonna, Capisci and the saying Fuhgeddaboudit, Ciao Per Ora… and many others that I can’t remember off the top of my head.
I definitely enjoyed would always cherish the memories and warm welcoming for the many visits with her when I would pop into the family ristorante Angelo’s Pizza and Pasta with an appetite for family Sunday sit down brunches, lunches and dinners. She certainly was a true believer of God and full of hope. I know she would pray for me and hold my hand and wish me my very best in life. All in all, she gave it all her best, she definitely was a true Italian woman with unstoppable faith that was always uplifting with a motivational smile with passion to her family, friends and the community of people she knew! She will always be remembered. Mrs. Giovanna you will be forever missed. In Jesus name, I pray for you as you rest in eternal heavenly peace along with comfort and ease of pain as you all mourn and celebrate her life.
