Georgia M Matula

 

Georgia M. Matula, a 55 year resident of Houston, Texas, passed away on March 27, 2022 in Houston, Texas. She was born on January 30, 1944 in Robstown, Texas. She married Jerome F. Matula in Violet, Texas in 1967. Georgia was previously employed at Boeing, Continental Airlines, and the Enron Corporation. Georgia was also a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Clear Lake City, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents: John Anton Juranek and Ludmilla Kalisek Juranek; sister, Shirley Tarble; brothers: Charles Juranek and James Juranek.

She leaves behind her husband of 55 years, Jerome F. Matula; daughter Michelle Cardenas, husband Jeffrey; sister Geraldine Cortino, husband Robert; grandchildren: Katheryn Cardenas, Joseph Cardenas, and Jacob Cardenas.

Georgia enjoyed cooking, playing games, being with her daughter and grandchildren, traveling, especially to Hawaii, and watching old movies such as Gone with the Wind and Miracle on 34th Street. She was a compassionate wife, mother and grandmother, and a devoted woman of faith. Georgia was fervently loved by many and leaves a legacy that will be remembered for generations to come.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland, TX followed by a memorial vigil and Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 8, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Clear Lake City, TX.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School (school.stclarehouston.org).

  1. Jerome, once again, please accept our heartfelt condolences along with sympathies to you and the family. Like you said, Georgia will be deeply missed, but none of us can begin to imagine the pain you feel.

    It’s a beautiful picture of Georgia. That’s the way we remember her, along with the last time we were together at the seafood restaurant a couple of months ago. She was upbeat and cheerful and we had a fun time. Those are the beautiful memories we will carry forward into the future.

    We will deeply miss Georgia. She had a beautiful smile and we can imagine that she’s smiling down on us from heaven today. There is comfort in knowing that there is one more angel in God’s Kingdom.

  7. Georgia was such an inspiration – coming to mass even when it was hard. We will miss her presence in the front rows at St Clare. I’m sure she is now ensconced in the front row before God in Heaven, praying for all of us.
