Florencio “Papa Larry V” R. Vasquez, Jr.

Vasquez, Jr. 68, of Texas City passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 in Texas City.  He was born October 22, 1947 to Florencio and Dolores Vasquez, Sr. in Texas City. He was a lifetime resident of Texas City.  Florencio was a veteran in the US Air Forces serving in Vietnam; he was a member of St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church of Texas City and the Boilermakers Union Local 135.

He is preceded in death by his mother Dolores Vasquez and brother Sammy Vasquez.  He is survived by his father Florencio R. Vasquez, Sr. and wife Ophelia of Texas City; his wife Juana Elsa Vasquez of Texas City; step-son Enrique J. Carrera and wife Anita of New Braunfels, step-daughter Elsa J. Jolly and husband Steve of Texas City; his children Vonnie Vasquez and husband Scott of Austin, Vedette Peckman and husband Ashford of Austin, Timothy Vasquez and wife Nadia of Austin and Michael Vasquez and wife Raquel of Texas City; seven grandchildren Hayley R. Jolly, Alayna J. Carrera, Tyler Jolly, Diego Carrera, Mikaela Vasquez, Noa Vasquez, Jude Timothy Vasquez; sisters; Anita Sanchez of Texas City, Natalie Tingle and Belinda and Frankie Jobe; brother Ignacio Vasquez of Texas City. He had a favorite niece and nurse Shelly Esquivel, nephews Salvador Sanchez, Julio Sanchez, Jr., and baby Santana Julio Sanchez.

He was raised by grandparents Ignacio and Maria Elena Vasquez.

A visitation will be on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm with a Vigil at 7:00pm at the Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.

A Funeral Service will be at 10:00am on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church of Texas City with Rev. Clint Ressler officiating.  Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Michael Vasquez, Timothy Vasquez, Enrique Carrera, Ashford Peckman, Scott Palmer and Steve Jolly.
