Evangelina (Eva) A. Crucian

Evangelina (Eva) A. Crucian died Jan. 15, 2022 at the UTMB Hospital in Webster TX. Her valiant heart failed after more than 7 months of many serious complications caused by stage IV small cell lung cancer. She had been hospitalized at MDA/Cancer ward twice and multiple times at UTMB Webster hospital for the persistent complications of her cancer. At the time she passed she had been admitted for the final time with an infection, low oxygen levels, and COVID related pneumonia symptoms. Eva was a special woman who brought so much love into her world that she shall live forever in our hearts and in those of her extended family and many friends. She was a founding member of St. Clare of Assisi parish and the senior group Just Older Youth (JOY). She was very active in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) from its beginning and supported the parish in many other roles e.g. a seamstress, when needed. She was especially proud of the tremendous support of her immediate and extended family during her fight with cancer. It was an amazing fight led by her daughters Claire, Frances and Diane and supported by her husband of 62+ years Frank, sons Will, Jon, Tom, and Greg. Special thanks for the support from her nephew Mike Blackburn, her sister Jean Blackburn, grandsons Ryan and Michael Rowland, nephew David Macias and niece Patricia Macias, sons-in-law John Rowland and Greg Bordelon, and daughters-in-law Andrea, Janice, Julie, and Sheryl Crucian. And a grateful “Thank you” to all the heroes at MD Anderson & UTMB for all their valiant efforts to assist Eva in her final days. She continues to live in the hearts of all her children, her extended family and friends, and all of the 12 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 3 great granddaughters, and 2 great grandsons. Eva was born Feb. 13, 1937 in El Paso, TX to parents Juan G. Alarcon and Isabel Loya Alarcon. She was a proud Texan who spent all but 6 of her almost 85 years residing in Texas – 50+ years in the Clear Lake area of Houston, TX. She graduated from St. Joseph’s school for Girls in El Paso (since merged with Loretto Academy) and a local El Paso Cosmetology school. After working for several years in Texas and Ohio, she decided to commit herself to rearing her 3 daughters and 4 sons, and assisting in rearing her grandchildren Ryan, Sean and Michael Rowland. Plans are to inter her remains at the Houston National Cemetery and to celebrate her life when time and circumstances permit. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in her name to either the San Elizario Genealogical Society P.O. Box 1090, San Elizario, Texas 79849 or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children (Memphis, TN 38105).

  5. Mary Alyce and I offer our prayers and condolences to Eva and the entire Crucian family. We shared parish life at St Paul the Apostle in Dallas diocese and St Clare of Assisi here in Houston with your family. We are both blessed to have large (7) families. I believe they are our support and strength in sad times like these. Please be assured of our continued prayers for you all,
