Yarbrough-Ernestina 14 obit picErnestina Yarbrough, 81, of Hitchcock, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014, at her residence. Ernestina was born February 15, 1933, in Harlingen, Texas, to John and Mary Alfaro. Ernestina has been a resident of Hitchcock for 45 years. Ernestina is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald V. Yarbrough, one son, John Adams, and one brother Arturo Alfaro. Ernestina is survived by three sons: Robert Adams and Robyn Robinson of Hitchcock, Marion C. Adams and wife Lawana of Hitchcock, and AV Adams of Hitchcock; one sister: Olivia Roybal of Las Vegas, Nevada; six brothers: John Alfaro of Dickinson, Guadalupe Alfaro of Florida, Victor Alfaro of Brownsville, Juan Alfaro of Brownsville, and Manuel Sandino, Jr of La Marque; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday August 14, 2014, at James Crowder Funeral Home, La Marque. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m., Friday, August 15, 2014, at the funeral home, with Deacon Sam Ausmus officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, Hitchcock, Texas.

  1. One of my favorite aunts. Made the best homemade Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. Always full of laughter. So sorry to not have kept in better touch. She will be missed greatly by many. We love you Aunt Tina.
