  1. Eric will be so deeply missed. I always loved our long talks and hanging out as cousins do. He was one of the good guys. I pray you all can find comfort in knowing Eric is not suffering anymore. It doesn’t help the hurt or pain of not having him here anymore with us tho. I loved him bunches

  4. Condolences to Eric’s wife Bridgette and children, Leo, Tara, and Nate; to his mother and father, Pam and Brian; to his brother Brandon; his sister, Penny, and to all who know and love him. My heart goes out to them as they face life without him and learn to live with the hole left in their hearts by his loss. I’ve known Eric since he was a young child living across the street from my home and playing in our Riverton, MN neighborhood. I got to know him even better as he worked his way from elementary age through high school as a wrestler. We preached “never give up” on the mat and through his battle against cancer, his toughest opponent ever, he demonstrated how to put that desire and attitude into practice against his cancer, something much more important than a sport. Through our conversations as adults during times he was recovering at his parents’ home after receiving serious and major cancer treatment, I learned what a caring and loving heart he possessed. He loved his family and loved life.

  5. Condolences to Eric’s family. Eric and I were great childhood friends we played football together and most of all were Wrestleing partners all through grade school and up until 9th grade when I moved to California. As life went on we would get together a few times back in Minnesota with other childhood friends for an annual fishing tournament that still goes on today. Eric has one of the biggest hearts there is, a person so kind and would do anything for you. I will miss him very much as anyone that knew him. Those of us that can understand he is in a much better place and awaiting for all of us to join him some day. Eric thank you for letting me be a chip in your short life. You’ll will not be forgotten.

  12. Although I am unable to be present with Eric’s loved ones today in Texas, please know that I am there in spirit as I watch his Celebration of Life. I thank God every day for the time that Eric and I spent in our younger years, as we grew up and tried to figure out who we are and where we should be in life. My most cherished times spent with our family are with our Grandpa Paulson and Eric. Grandpa taught me a lot about life over the years and Eric did the same in so many ways. Eric and I were not the perfect boys or young men, our parents can attest to this. However, Eric grew into a respectable and honorable man, one that makes me smile when I see who he had become. Eric was gifted with the same kindness and love that I saw in our Grandpa and was always willing to share with others. Those of us that know Eric are truly blessed. Eric is not a cousin to me, he is my best friend, my brother and that has always been and always will be the truth. The distance between us after we both joined the military, him Army and me Air Force were only miles. He settled in Texas and I returned to Minnesota. Often, I feel he made the wiser choice. In his choice he found someone whom I know he loved dearly and I truly believe that Bridgette shares the same love for him. I am so happy and thankful that they found each other, as Eric deserves all of the love that others will give to him in return for what he gave to so many. As we see Eric off to be at his rightful place with God, I pray that all of his family, his loved ones will find peace and comfort in knowing that Eric has found his. He no longer suffers from the Earthly things that we must still endure. However, he will still be here, in spirit to help us through the journey that remains for us. We will keep Eric alive in our hearts and minds by sharing our memories and stories together and by being willing to be there to help each other through life.
Rest easy Eric, We’ve got the watch from here.

    • I am so sorry for your family’s loss. Shawn I remember meeting your cousin with you at the racetrack. I could see the brotherhood you shared with him as we talked about our days in the service and your youth. Prayers for you, his wife, his kids, and all of your family. I cried while she was speaking today God Bless her and her words. Like Shawn said we’ve got the watch from here. ((huggs))
