Deloris McGaffey Ginn

Deloris McGaffey Ginn, 90, of Dickinson, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her husband William, all of her children and loving family.  Deloris was born on October 8, 1933 to Alfred B. and Ellen McGaffey in Galveston, Texas.  She grew up on the island and graduated in 1952 from Dominican Catholic High School in Galveston, Texas.

Deloris was a resident of Dickinson since 1966 and worked at Dickinson Independent School district for many years.  She attended Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church; was a member of the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters and served joyfully for both the True Cross Catholic school and church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred B. & Ellen McGaffey, her brothers A.B. McGaffey III, Richard McGaffey, and Louis “Mac” McGaffey, in-laws William & Evelyn Ginn, brother in laws Joe Ginn (Jane), and Robert Ginn (Norma)

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, William F. Ginn, her children Connie Ginn, Janice, Carolyn Hardilek, James, William F. Ginn Jr., Cindy, Richard Ginn, Marie, Stephen Ginn, Elizabeth, Frances Ginn, Shelley; her grandchildren John Lozica, Stanley, Jimmy Hardilek, Marni ; Shawn Lozica, Joan, Kristen Arellano, Cristobal, William F. Ginn III, Kimberly, Lauren Batey, Emmitt, Ashley Ginn, Chelsea, Stephanie Vasquez, Lupe, Parker Ginn, Katie, Colby Ginn, and 25 great-grandchildren; her sisters Ann Terry and Dorothy Norton, niece Claire Kuehn, Bill, nieces, nephews, family, friends, and a great-great-grandchild on the way.

Visitation will be from 5-7p.m., Wednesday, March 13th, at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson.  A vigil service followed by a rosary beginning at 7 p.m. with Deacon Pascual Velazquez.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14th, at Shrine of the True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson officiated by Father Ricardo Arriola. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson.

 

Pallbearers will be grandsons John Lozica, Jimmy Hardilek, Shawn Lozica, William F. Ginn III, Parker Ginn, and Colby Ginn.

 

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to granddaughter, Kristen Arellano and Essential hospice nurses (Jordan, Becky, Kimberly, Veronica) for their dedicated loving care.
