Della Opal Elizabeth Landriault Shifflett

Della Opal Elizabeth Landriault Shifflett (Aunt Opal) passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 in Livingston, TX at the young age of 94 years 6 months and 8 days. Opal was born to Joseph David Landriault and Rachel Lora Arminda Mayes Landriault on September 30, 1929 in Guthrie, OK.

When Opal was 18 she married Robert Louis Shifflett (Uncle Bob) on March 24, 1948 in Dickinson, TX.  Opal and Bob never had any children of their own. They helped, raise her nephew Little Ricky for several years. Opal loved all her nieces and nephews dearly. She played a huge part in all of their lives and wore the tile of Aunt Opal with love and honor!!

During WW2, at the age of 13, Opal severed as an Observer in the US Army Air Corps identifying aircrafts.  She enjoyed bowling and played all over the U.S.

Opal loved to waterski even though she couldn’t swim well. Aunt Opal kept a pristine house, threw the best family gatherings, loved playing card and dominos, gardening, canning and crocheting.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Louis Shifflett; parents Joseph David and Rachel Lora Landriault; siblings Arthur Landriault, Elmo Richard Landriault, Clifford Landriault, Ray Landriault, Leonard Landriault, Laurence Jackson Landriault and Ida Lucille Burris.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque.  Funeral Service is at 11:00am on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Crowder Funeral Home with Minister Rex Teter officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX.

Pallbearers will be William Burris, Michael Burris, Clint Nickels, Paul Baker, Billy Sandoval and David Landriault.

Oh my goodness I will miss Aunt Opal her and my uncle were the cutest couple ever. she was the sweetest lady she was so smitten on my husband Robert and he would get so tickled how she thought and told him how handsome he was. My aunt Opal was so sad when he passed she will be missed and I hope her and Robert meet again behind the pearly gates.
