Dana Sue Strahan

Dana Sue Strahan, 81, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2017, in Nassau Bay Texas. She was born on Dec 27, 1935 in Hillsboro Texas to Loyd and Mary Dana Forrest. Dana is survived by her sons Robert Strahan and wife Susan, and Alan Strahan and wife Pam McCraw; grandchildren Mykala and Walker Strahan and numerous additional family members and friends, along with her 3 cats Nessie, Lomond and Skye-Sparkle.

Dana was raised in Itasca Texas where she graduated high school in 1954, after which she attended the University of Texas where she also clerked for a freshman state congressman named Bob Bullock. She then married Charles A. Strahan of West Palm Beach Florida, a young Air Force Officer stationed at Bergstrom AFB, whom she met at Schutlz’s Beer Garden. They subsequently lived in Spokane Washington, Roswell New Mexico and again Itasca, before settling in Tucson Arizona where she finished raising both her sons.

While in Tucson, Dana earned a Bachelors and then a Masters of Library Science from the University of Arizona. After graduation, she worked for several years at Pistor and later Carson Middle Schools as a Librarian, following her passion for books, learning, and inspiring young adults. In 2002, after the death of her husband, Dana moved to the southern edge of Houston near the Johnson Space Center to be close to both of her sons and later her grandchildren whom she adored.

In addition to reading, Dana loved history, mysteries, travel, spending time with her friends, her church and Bible study class, art house movies, cross word puzzles, playing bridge, good Tex-Mex or sea food, and doting over her beloved grandchildren along with her cats. She had a contagious love for life and enriched all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 9 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Crowder Funeral Home, Webster, TX.  A memorial and celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 10 at 10 am at Webster Presbyterian Church, 201 NASA Road 1, Webster Texas.
