Dan O’Neal
Dan O’Neal, 64, of Huntsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. Born on December 4, 1960, in Texas City, Dan spent most of his life in Dickinson, where he built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship.
A devoted Christian, Dan was known for his warm, joyful spirit and his ability to bring people together—often around a grill. He was an avid BBQer who loved sharing meals and stories with those he cared about. Whether through fellowship at church or casual backyard gatherings, Dan had a gift for making others feel welcome and appreciated.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jewell O’Neal; his children, Daniel O’Neal and wife Meghan, Jeromy O’Neal and wife Heather, and Rindy Garland and husband Russell; and his beloved grandchildren; Kellan O’Neal, Madi Garland, Caleb Garland, and Mackenzie Garland. He also leaves behind his brothers Frank O’Neal, III (Brenda), Jeff O’Neal (Judy), and Tim O’Neal and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nelda O’Neal; grandparents, Lettie and William Arey, Clarinda and Frank O’Neal, Sr. and sister-in-law Gypsy O’Neal.
Dan will be remembered for his charismatic personality, his deep love for his family, and the joyful memories he helped create. His presence brought warmth to every room, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, TX on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. The funeral will be held at Crowder Funeral Home Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 11:00am with Lynn Sasser and Derrell Beck officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
Pallbearers will be Matthew O’Neal, Mark O’Neal, Bryan Ousley, Jeffrey O’Neal, Justin O’Neal and Jared O’Neal.

Jewel and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, I just found out that Dan has Passed. I am speaking for all of Pee Wee O’Neal’s family he is with Aunt Nelda and Uncle Frank and they are making BBQ. I wish we could have been able to attend but with Bitsy and I living in Illinois we couldn’t. Again sorry for you loss. Rest in peace Dan you were a very good man. God Bless You.
Dan always was a positive person who displayed a great Christian attitude. It was a pleasure working with him at Carbide and playing a little softball with him.
