Curtis Ray Flurry

Curtis Ray Flurry, 84, passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday October 14, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice Tilley Flurry; daughter Melissa Clark of Charleston SC, and grandsons Andrew David Clark and Kevin Curtis Cladc, sister Nita Flurry Hall and brothers Marcus Flurry (Barbara) and Paul Flurry all in Alabama; sister-in-law Kay Tilley Krininger (Keith) of Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel Lester Flurry and Minnie Mae McCartey Flurry and sisters Joyce Flurry Mitchell and Elizabeth Flurry Taylor. Bom in Dadeville Alabama on February 18, 1938 Curtis joined the Army playing basketball before specializing in rocketry which started him on a career with NASA at Redstone Arsenal with Dr. Wemer Von Braun and the Satum V rocket, Mission Control at Cape Canaveral and ending at Johnson Space Center with the final launch of the Space Shuttle. Curtis loved running, metal detecting, and serving the Lord by quietly helping countless widows by donating his skills at repairs. “Those who have given of themselves to others, will live forever in every single heart they have touched” – may we carry on his legacy until we meet again in Heaven. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center and Ronald McDonald House.
