Caroline M. Nicklaus

Caroline M. Nicklaus was born on October 21, 1931, in Chicago, IL. She passed away peacefully on September 21, 2023, at the age of 91, in League City, TX.

Caroline was preceded in death by her father, Theodore Jenson, her mother, Lauretta Jenson (nee: Larson), her first husband, Robert (Bob) Nelson, her second husband, William (Bill) Nicklaus, and her stepson, Richard Nicklaus.

She is survived by her children: Linda Kolar of Roanoke, TX; Robin Nelson of Edgewood, NM; stepsons: Bob (Terry) Nicklaus of Derby, KS; and Randy Nicklaus of Las Vegas, NV, and brothers, Ted (Pam) of St Joseph, MI, and John (Judy) of Greenwood, NY.  She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Caroline was a dynamic and creative person. She dedicated many years to teaching at the Dickinson Independent School District. She also served as a docent at the Moody Mansion in Galveston, Texas. Her love for education and sharing knowledge with others will be remembered by all who knew her. Caroline’s faith was a source of strength and comfort throughout her life. She has been associated, for many years, with the Lutheran Church both in Chicago, IL and Dickinson, TX.  She later found solace and community at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Dickinson, TX.

A memorial service, for Caroline will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Dickinson, TX, on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 2:00 PM.  Reception to follow at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Wolston Hall.

In lieu of flowers Caroline would appreciate contributions be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, a cause that was close to her heart.

  2. My Aunt Caroline was a very special part of my life. Growing up she helped my mother through many difficult times and myself as well. She will always be loved by me and always in my thoughts and prayers. God bless Aunt Caroline. I love you so.
