Billy Eugene Watkins, at age 84. Went to be with our Heavenly Father on July 1, 2026.
He was born on February 4, 1942 in Ash Hill Township, Missouri to the parents of William and Opal Watkins. After getting married Billy and Judy moved to Illinois. After 24 years they moved to Texas where they lived until Judy past on December 23, 2013 after 53 years of marriage.
He has always had a special place in his heart from serving children in the church bus ministry in Illinois. To being an usher and greeting other at church. He always looked forward to attending church to fellowship with his church family. Billy dedicated 22 years to his career working within the maintenance department for the education industry. He shared many great memories involving teachers, staff, students, and families. One of his greatest achievements was when he was nominated and awarded the Sunshine Award. Where he was recognized for going above and beyond to brighten others day.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather that enjoyed being there for his family. Some of the things he enjoyed was gardening, barbequing, and family gatherings. His favorite time of year was Christmas where he took great pride in his Christmas display that he began to decorate in September.
He is preceded in death by his wife Judy Watkins; his parents William and Opal Watkins; his brother Charles Watkins; his brother in laws Don Hillis and Benny Hillis. He is survived by his sisters Charlene Hillis (Don), Nadine Hillis (Benny), 2 brothers Dennis Watkins, Jewel Watkins and wife Jeanine; 2 daughters Cathy Rainwater and husband John, Cindy Lance; 5 grandchildren Melissa and husband Jose, Joshua, Matthew, Caleb and wife Della, Christie and husband Glen; 5 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way and 1 great great grandchild on the way.
Visitation will be at 10:00am on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Citymark Church 231 West Main St., League City, Texas 77573, and the Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00am.
