Beverly Jo Wisdom Overbeck “Granny”

Beverly Jo Wisdom Overbeck “Granny,” age 93, passed away on October 31, 2024. Beverly was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and then moved to Galveston at the age of 9. Throughout her life she lived in many parts of Texas from Lubbock to Spring to Pearland, but her heart would always remain in Galveston where she said she was the happiest. She married the love of her life, Max Carl Overbeck “Mickey” at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Galveston, Texas on December 18, 1948. Their love created a family of which they had 6 kids, 3 boys and 3 girls. Their growing family ended up being the highlight of her life which gave her 11 grandkids, 22 great grandkids, and 1 great-great grandchild. Most would remember Granny for her amazing cooking of which she loved to spend time in the kitchen. She would bake for days on end every Christmas giving you her delicious fudge, cookies, divinity, candies, cakes, pies, and most loved carrot cake. She amazed us with her memory even at the age of 93. Beverly could strike up a conversation with anyone and could recall that same conversation from memory 20 years later. She was a friend to all and loved by even more.

  4. Miss Beverly was such a joy to be around. She loved to tell me stories of her life, the hardships and the good times. Her family was so important to her. She helped me through the loss of my sister Alice. Her time in Huntsville was short but she had an impact on everyone she came in contact with. I loved and miss her.
