Albert “Mitchell” McCarty

Albert “Mitchell” McCarty, 70, a resident of Alvin, Texas formerly of Santa Fe, Texas passed from this life, Saturday, January 2, 2021 in Galveston, Texas. Mitchell was born in Lawton, Oklahoma to parents, Arthur and Lena McCarty on July 26, 1950.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, spent his working career with TxDot and retired after 34 years. He met and married the love of his life, Pam. Their life and love spanned 42 years and were blessed with three loving daughters, Lorayne, Becky, and Candle.

Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Jimmy and Harold McCarty.

He leaves behind to cherish his lifetime of memories, wife Pam, daughters, Lorayne Gothard and husband Morgan, and their three children Brandon, Zoe, and Mia; Becky McCarty and son Joseph; and Candle McCarty and daughter Lily; five sisters, Debbie VanRamshorst and husband J.D., Ellen Bradshaw and husband Mike, Patsy Hanagriff and husband Larry, Virginia Carlson, and Lena Patterson and husband Cecil; brother, Mickey McCarty and wife Vickie; as well as numerous friends and relatives.

Mitchell loved his family and spending time with his grandkids.  He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and Astros fan, win or lose.  He had a love for horror movies (especially the ones with Jamie Lee Curtis) that he passed down to all 3 of his daughters. He also enjoyed watching Stranger Things and Yellowstone and would never miss an episode of Young and the Restless! One of his favorite past times was going gambling with his sisters in Louisiana.  In his younger days, he was in a band and played the drums and played “Wipeout” very well.  He was an instigator and loved to “stir the pot.” He had such a wonderful sense of humor and made people laugh everywhere he went.

In his honor a celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 3:00pm in the Crowder Funeral Home Chapel, Dickinson, Texas.

  5. I am praying for you all in your time of grief over the loss of Mitchell. He was not my blood family but he always made me feel like I was. My memories are always of him being so happy to see everyone and always having a big smile on his face. He always greeted me with “Hey Girl!!” I will miss him and think of him often. We have lost a wonderful man that was “family” to me. I love you Mitchell!! I will see you again someday.

  6. Candle,
I just watched the service for your Dad. It was a beautiful dedication! Brought back memories of my father’s just 2 years ago. I think they might have friends in a different time. Lol
Praying for the healing process that will take it’s own time.🙏
    Love you, girl!

  7. Pam and Family: I am so sorry to hear of Mitchell’s passing. I felt as if I knew him just through Pam speaking about him when she and I worked together at UTMB. Pam, I think of you so often with wonderful memories of working with you. I will pray for you and your family as you go through these days to come without Mitchell. Just remember, he is in a wonderful home now with our Lord. And he will be waiting for you when you join him there. My sincere condolences, Melinda Duroux
