James Erwin Webb
James Erwin Webb, 89, of League City, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at his home. He was born on March 23, 1937, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, to William and Vera Webb.
James came to the United States in 1964. He built a career as an engineer in the energy and mining industries, which took him to live and work in many states across the country and overseas in Europe.
James dedicated his life to providing for his family, often through his deep passion for cooking. Whenever time permitted, he loved golfing and fishing in the Alberta Rockies with his lifelong friend, Doug Townsand. An enthusiastic baseball fan, nothing brought him greater joy than being in the stands cheering on his grandson.
James inherited his father’s mechanical aptitude and was forever tinkering with anything that had moving parts, from his own cars (and his sons’ cars, of course) to every mower, tool, and household appliance that needed attention. His motto: “If man built it, I can fix it.”
Besides his love for Constance and his two boys, Ralph and Kelin, James loved the dogs who shared his life through the years: Torus, Denver, Zig, Missy, and Laddy. In his own words, “A house is not a home without dogs.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Vera Webb.
James is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Constance; his son Ralph Webb and wife Tanya, and their sons, Jacob Magill and Jack Magill; his son Kelin Webb and wife Katherine, and Kelin’s son, Torrin Webb; his brother, Gary Webb and wife Elaine; his sisters, Sandy and Sherry in Canada; and many other loving family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd, 11:00am at St. Mary of the Expectation Catholic Church, 1612 East Walker, League City, Texas 77573, with Father Simon Kipiti presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate), 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Guide Dogs of Texas (https://guidedogsoftexas.org/), 1503 Allena Drive, San Antonio, TX 78213.
